  • University of Strathclyde - The Construction Management Group in the Department of Civil Engineering has a reputation for excellence in teaching and research in the field of Construction Management. The group's strength is in the breadth of its activities in support of education and training for the construction industry. Construction Management has been in operation for many years at Strathclyde with an MSc being launched in 1988. The group was established in 1991 and contains academic staff and researchers dedicated to improving practice and broadening knowledge amongst construction organisations be they contractors, consultants or clients.  http://www.strath.ac.uk/Departments/Civeng/conman/cm.html

  • The Construction Cost Enigeering Research Groupt (CCE) is based in the School of Architecture and Building Engineering at the University of Liverpool. • Generic Design and Construction Process Protocol  - Three years ago the EPSRC under the IMI 'Construction as a Manufacturing Process' Sector funded a research project which aimed to develop a Generic Design and Construction 'Process Protocol' (GDCPP) for the construction industry.  As a result the Process Protocol was produced by the effective collaboration of a number of organisations from various disciplines within the construction industry: - Alfred McAlpine (Special Projects) - BAA plc. - B.T. - Advanced Visual Technology ltd. - Capita - Waterman Partnership - Boulton & Paul together with the University of Salford's research expertise.  The project has reached its conclusion but has also signalled the beginning of a number of new initiatives (Two new projects approved  for funding)). The process protocol has achieved a great deal of  interest within the UK construction industry, including the CRISP  Process Group. It is now used as a framework for a number of academic research studies and industrial institutions. http://www.salford.ac.uk/gdcpp

  • MCB UNIVERSITY PRESS/RICS RESEARCH FOUNDATION INTERNET RESEARCH REGISTER

The RICS Research Foundation is collaborating with MCB University Press, publisher of "Facilities", "Property Management" and "Structural Survey" learned journals among others, to establish an internet-based researchregister for built environment research. This has already been initiated for real estate research, and we are now wishing to develop this for construction and built environment research. The link to the Research Register can be found on the RICS Research website page at the following address:

    http://www.rics.org.uk/research/index.html

From here, you will see the link to the Research Register, where you will be able to enter details of your research, see details of research currently on the Research Register and to find out more about the Research Register.  With the resources of MCB University Press providing the technical support for this, we very much hope that this can develop into a resource of real and lasting value to the research community. The RICS Research Foundation is committed to seeking to develop this, for the benefit of all those involved in research in the built environment
