Research
- In the context of the CIB Pro-Active Approach it has been decided
to define Performance Based Building as a second so-called CIB
Priority Theme for the period 1998-2001.
The work on this second CIB Priority Theme in fact commenced in
the first half of 1998 with a tender among selected CIB Full Member
Institutes for developing detailed recommendations for a CIB Programme
in this area. This tender was awarded to CSIRO, the CIB Full Member
Institute in Australia.
A team of CSIRO researchers under the leadership of Dr. Greg Foliente
subsequently executed an international literature survey and interviewed
many experts within and outside CIB and in October 1998 presented
its results at a meeting of the CIB Programme Committee in Brisbane,
Australia. The CIB Programme Committee adopted the proposed
Programme with enthusiasm as an adequate base for a CIB Pro-Active
Approach in this area.
